You Can Improve Your Overall Health, Slow the Effects of Aging, Reduce Stress and Fatigue, Manage and/or Eliminate Pain, Lose Weight, and Live a Happier, Healthier Life with One-On-One Yoga Instruction Adapted To Your Needs.
Life is short and you only get one chance to live it. Do you want to spend your life feeling sick, tired, stressed, heavy, listless, and just plain unhealthy? If living this sort of life is acceptable to you, then you’ll definitely want to redirect your Web browser to some other Web site. This site is about giving you the tools to feel well, live well, and be well.
If you want to make the most of your life and feel amazing while you’re living it, then let me introduce myself. My name is Diane Cesa and I’m a certified Yoga Therapist and teacher. I work with clients of all ages and every walk of life with private yoga sessions designed to help them reach their physical, mental, and emotional goals and achieve their best life – inside and out.
You May Be Surprised to Learn…
Like many yoga teachers, I started out as a student of yoga. I attended workshops and classes and studied with well-known yogis from around the world. I was shocked to discover that Americanized yoga is hurting rather than helping people. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve attended a yoga class or workshop in which the teacher pays little or no attention to the students (often times, it’s more about the teacher’s ego than it is about the students’ well-being). Usually, the teacher doesn’t even ask about a student’s prior injuries or general health. What used to be an ancient discipline that promotes a healthy, balanced mind and body has turned into a mere exercise class or a beauty contest (who has the most ripped body, who is wearing the most fashionable yoga clothes, who can contort him/herself into the most difficult poses?) or a test of flexibility.
I experienced the transformative power of yoga firsthand, so I knew that there was more to it than what I was seeing in the average yoga class. It inspired me to study and get certified so that I could work with people and shatter the misunderstandings about yoga.
Yoga has a rich history. Unfortunately, the practice of yoga has also been stereotyped based on the practices of a few people. Yoga isn’t a religion and it isn’t about chanting in a cave on a mountaintop while dressed in a flowing robe. It isn’t about contorting yourself into crazy positions and chanting Om. Practicing yoga doesn’t mean you’re a “hippie” or that you burn incense. Yoga is simply a practice that helps you get to know yourself and your body. As you develop self-awareness, you can make your life richer and become stronger and more flexible. In other words, you can live by our creedo here at Be Well Yoga Therapy -- Feel Well, Live Well, Be Well.
Yoga is also about taking time for yourself, tapping into your body’s wisdom, and taking care of yourself. Today’s world is running at a faster pace than ever before. It can be extremely difficult to find the time to take care of yourself. The problem is, if you don’t take that time, your health will decline and your quality of life will suffer. Stress-related illnesses are on the rise. Do you want to be another statistic, another overweight, anxious, stressed-out member of our breakneck-paced society?
I work with everyday ordinary people. They don’t look like the models on the cover of the popular yoga or fitness magazines. Some of them have injuries and chronic health conditions while others are fairly healthy but have lost their zest for life. I work with young people, older people, flexible people, inflexible people, beginner yoga students, and advanced yoga students. Do you see the pattern here? It doesn't matter what your perceived limitations might be -- yoga is right for you. All of my clients get practices designed to meet their physical, mental, and emotional goals. There is one thing that all of my clients have in common though – they all want to feel good.
If you want to feel good too, I can help. Rather than tell you how well-qualified I am and tell you what to do and how to do it, I'll listen to you so that I can find out what you want and need. Our sessions are about you. My job is to respect where you are and help you get to where you want to go. Our sessions aren't about you forcing yourself to meet some ideal of what you think yoga is -- it's about adapting the practice to suit you. You'd be amazed at how an individualized program will change your body and your life.
My clients typically report improvements after only one session. As we continue to work together, I hear not only about physical improvements, but emotional and mental ones as well. Some of the benefits students have shared with me are:
- Decreased blood pressure
- Increased circulation
- Improved balance and flexibility
- Improved posture
- Increased strength and energy
- Weight loss
- Stronger immune system
- Overall feeling of peace and well-being
- Harmony in personal relationships
- Increased sense of vitality
Just when I think I’ve heard it all, a client comes to me with another success story.
What Can Yoga Do for You?
If you’re a self-confessed couch-potato or you don’t like exercise, yoga is a great way for your body to gradually become more active. You’ll be surprised at how quickly and easily your body begins to recover and respond once you start practicing yoga. Like I said before -- I’ve worked with clients of all ages and physical abilities and the body’s ability to adjust and recover from injuries and limitations never fails to amaze me.
If you’re already practicing yoga and you’re pushing yourself through a yoga class -- unsure of or uncomfortable with what you’re doing -- you most likely won’t gain the full benefits of yoga, which can range from relaxation and stress reduction to an enhanced feeling of well-being to the relief of physical pain and ailments.
I can help you access the healing powers of yoga by customizing a routine based on your body’s needs and your personal goals. Our work together will be focused 100% on you. I won’t push you beyond your abilities and rather than tell you what to do, I’ll encourage you to listen to your body. If you’re used to hearing the hard-hitting gym adage “no pain, no gain,” you’re in for a pleasant surprise. Our sessions aren't about pushing yourself beyond your physical limits but working within your limits to eventually break through them.
Using a variety of therapeutic methods and modalities (including yoga poses, breathing, awareness meditations, and bodywork modalities like Body Rolling and acupressure) I’ll show you how to work intelligently with your body to bring yourself into a balanced state. That’s just one of the unique things about yoga therapy – it treats the whole person. That means that you’ll see more than physical changes – you’ll also see mental, emotional, and energetic changes as well.
Why get lost in a yoga class or a gym and struggle with your practice when you can get one-on-one attention and a customized yoga therapy plan? Here’s just a sample of the physical, emotional, and mental benefits you’ll get from our sessions:
- The nervous system, glands, digestion, circulation, and organ function will be stimulated
- Stressed or over-stimulated nervous systems will experience a sense of peace and relaxation
- Hazy, dull minds will be activated and become more clear, alert and focused
- Blocked emotions will release, making it easier for you to get more in tune with your emotions
- Your personal goals will be addressed – whether they’re physical or emotional – and a plan to achieve them will be incorporated into your sessions
I combine a variety of yoga-based modalities to transform and heal your mind, body, and soul. To suit your needs, I offer a variety of options for private sessions:
General Yoga Therapy – a general yoga therapy session includes physical postures, conscious breathing techniques, meditative practices, the use of props, guided imagery, assisted postures, and more. The structure of the session depends upon the individual’s needs and goals. These sessions are very empowering, as the healing comes from the client rather than an outside source.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy - a powerful dialogue-based session of supported yoga poses that heal your body, mind, and spirit through greater self-awareness. You’ll be guided through a series of classic yoga postures that are restorative in nature. You’ll enter each assisted posture slowly, with a focus on what’s happening in your body. Throughout the session, I’ll ask you questions regarding your thoughts and feelings so that you can tap into your emotions. The focus of this session is to understand your inner world by working on your outer world (your body). You’ll be encouraged to listen to what your body is telling you and think about how your emotions are being manifested through your body. This practice is very powerful, as it helps you tap into your innermost feelings. It also provides you with a safe place to air your deepest thoughts and feelings.
Thai Yoga Bodywork - a wonderful and powerful healing therapy, this type of therapy combines penetrating massage and gentle yoga movements. The massage stretches the network of energy lines recognized by Ayurvedic science. This massage releases tension, allowing energy to flow more freely through the body, thereby alleviating conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, digestive difficulties, menstrual problems, and stress-related conditions. After a Thai Yoga Massage Therapy session, you’ll feel a deep state of relaxation and an enhanced feeling of well-being, and you’ll feel as though your balance has been restored.
How I Can Help You
After just one session with me, the quality of your life begins to improve. Our sessions last for 90 minutes, and all sessions are scheduled at your convenience. Here’s what working with me will get you:
- Education about your body and how it works (I can answer any questions you may have about yoga postures and their affect on your physical and emotional states; I can suggest modifications; I can suggest techniques that will help you achieve your physical, emotional, and energetic goals)
- One-on-one attention that you can’t get from a group session (personalized therapy plans, private Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions)
- A yoga therapy protocol customized to your specific needs (after a thorough assessment, I’ll create routines/practices that target your issues)
- I’m trained to help you work with your body rather than fight it (no more trying to contort yourself into a pose your body doesn’t want to – or can’t – get into and pretend that you’re finding the experience relaxing). I’ll use a variety of props and therapeutic techniques to free your muscles so you can find a greater sense of ease in a pose.
